Definition of Forward Curved Radial Centrifugal Fans
A forward curved radial centrifugal fan is a type of radial centrifugal fan. Its core characteristic lies in the bending direction of the impeller blades the blade outlet direction is forward curved relative to the impeller's rotation direction (i.e., the leading edge of the blade is inclined towards the impeller's rotation direction). The specific definition is as follows:
This type of fan drives the gas to move through the high speed rotation of the impeller. The gas is axially sucked in from the center of the impeller, moves towards the outer periphery of the impeller under the action of centrifugal force driven by the blades, and is finally discharged radially. The shape of its blades is "forward curved" (also known as forward - type), meaning the blade outlet angle is greater than 90°, and the bending direction of the blades is consistent with the impeller's rotation direction. This structural design makes the gas flow path within the impeller shorter and the kinetic energy conversion path more direct, thus creating unique aerodynamic characteristics that differ from backward - curved and radial blades.
Supplementary Core Characteristics (to Aid in Understanding the Definition)
- Blade Shape: The bending direction of the blades is the same as the impeller's rotation direction. From the axial view of the impeller, the blades appear to be "swept forward", with the outlet end inclined towards the front of the rotation.
- Airflow Characteristics: The gas gains a relatively large amount of kinetic energy within the impeller, and the pressure head increases significantly. However, due to the blade curvature, the airflow impact loss is relatively large, resulting in lower efficiency compared to backward - curved fans.
- Application Scenarios: It is commonly used in scenarios that require high air pressure and small flow rates, such as air conditioning systems, small ventilation equipment, and dust transportation (under low concentration conditions). It has a compact structure and relatively low cost."
